Funeral services for Mark Lee Carpenter, 57, of Gilmer will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home with Randall Hodges officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Gilmer City Cemetery.

Mark was born on August 29, 1961, in Gilmer, Tx, to Clyde Lee and Peggy Jo Hall Carpenter, and passed from this life on January 21, 2019 in Gilmer, Texas. Mark is survived by his mother, Peggy Carpenter; his sister, Lisa Barber and husband, David; and his niece, Madeline Barber. He is preceded in death by his father, Clyde Lee Carpenter.

Mark was a life-long resident of Gilmer where he had many wonderful friends with whom he especially enjoyed watching the Cowboys play. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with and watching his niece, Madeline, play softball. Mark enjoyed fishing, boating, and was an avid gun collector.
