Obituary for Marlin R. Loudin Marlin R. Loudin, age 79, of Adrian, died Friday, May 11, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 1, 1938, in Upshur County, a son of the late Bernice and Garnet Smith Loudin. On September 20, 1959, he was united in marriage to Idella Hyre Loudin, who survives.
Also surviving are five children: Christina Loudin-Edwards and her husband Curt, Marjorie Loudin-Davis and her husband Les, Douglas Loudin and his wife Shelly, Matthew Loudin and his wife Stephanie, and Eric Loudin and his wife Sabrina; sixteen grandchildren: Traci Loudin, Sierra Loudin-Jackson and her husband Isaac, John Loudin, Evan Loudin, Michael Loudin, Dustin Corbitt, Tanner Loudin, Spencer Loudin and honorary grandson Michael, Andrew Loudin and honorary granddaughter Abbie, Hunter Davis, Kaleb Loudin, Wade Loudin, Hannah Loudin-Hamner and her husband Tyson, Hope Vernon, Garret Loudin, and Cooper Loudin; three great grandchildren: Wesley, Maya, and Audrey Jackson; three sisters: Betty Howes, Mary Loudin, and Sandra Kelley; one brother Samuel Loudin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister Mildred Loudin-Sanders; three brothers: Hartzel, Macel, and Leonard Loudin; and one grandson-in-law David Dorian Granruth. Marlin was a 1957 graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School and retired after 32 years as an insurance agent.
Nature and the outdoors presented many opportunities for the long walks, hunting, and front porch sitting Marlin so greatly enjoyed. Beloved pastimes included feeding the birds, woodworking projects, gardening, and watching nature in his own backyard. He was a Methodist by faith.
Following his wishes, his body was cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 2:00 PM, at the Loudin family’s farm on the Adrian School Road, with the Rev. Robert F. Heavner officiating.
