Obituary for Martella J. “Marty” Christman Martella J. “Marty” Christman passed away Tuesday, July 3rd at Genesis Health and Rehabilitation Center. Marty was born March 21, 1931 in Deadwood, South Dakota to Earl T. and Anne J. (Milek) Smith. She was active in band and chorus in high school and graduated in Belle Fourche, South Dakota then entered the convent in Sturgis where she served as a novice.

After leaving the convent Marty made her way to Montana where she worked as a housekeeper at the priest residence in Bozeman then Butte. Marty was a longtime member of St. Ann’s Catholic Community where she served as eucharistic minister for many years. She and Wayne “Keith” Christman were married in Butte on August 29, 1975.

He passed away on August 31, 2001. Marty is also preceded in death by her brother, William Smith and sister, Margretta Forsythe Holden. Marty is survived by her sisters, Patricia Boone of Belle Fourche, SD and Ruth Johnson of Lincoln, NB as well as her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Carol Godtland of Butte as well as several nieces and nephews.
