Martin “Marty” William Beer January 06, 1923 – January 29, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Martin “Marty” William Beer, 96, of Perkasie, Pennsylvania went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Margaret E. (Crawford) Beer for 28 years and the late Cora (Landis) Beer for 48 years. Marty was born in Tinicum Twp.

, Pennsylvania to the late Hiram Beer and the late Revie (Dhiel) Beer. He worked as a farm hand for Welcome Detweiler Farm in Bedminster, as a truck driver for the former Myers Frozen Foods in Plumsteadville, as a laborer for the former Freihofer’s Bakery in Doylestown, as a laborer in the former Dublin Pants Factory, and as a carpenter for Crompton & Seitz in Feasterville, PA. Marty also did moonlighting with John Loux doing home renovations.

After retiring, he worked as a self-employed carpenter throughout the Central & Upper Bucks County areas. Marty was a lifetime member of Grace Gospel Chapel where he served as a former usher, kitchen worker, and handyman. He was a member of the Bucks Sportsman Association in Potter County, PA, a member of the Christian Bowling League in Lansdale, PA, and a former board member of Camp Iroquoina in Hallstead, PA.

In his younger years, Marty and his wife, Cora, enjoyed annual trips with friends, Dave & Fran Tyson, to Canada for a 2 week fishing excursion. Throughout his lifetime, he was pleased that he had donated blood to the Red Cross reaching nearly 100 pints. Marty loved being outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, and 62 consecutive years of buck hunting.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his great-grandson. Marty loved woodworking and enjoyed making stepstools for his grandchildren. He spent many evenings on the couch watching the Phillies on TV.

Marty was delighted that he had been driving for 80 years and he recently renewed his license taking him to the age of 100. He was a hardworking, compassionate, loving, quiet, humble man who gave his time, was unwavering in his Christian faith, and a good steward of his res. Marty had a great sense of humor and always had a good story to tell.

He was known as “Poppy” to his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Marty is survived by his two daughters, Janice D. Boonbanjerdsri & husband, Suchat of Bangkok, Thailand, Melody L. Reed & husband, Jeffrey of Perkasie, PA; his three granddaughters, Launa K. Reed of New Orleans, LA, Kimberlee Boonbanjerdsri of New York City, NY, Lindsey K. Reed-Mettin & husband, Ryan of Upper Black Eddy, PA; his two grandsons, Justin S. Reed & wife, Nichel of Perkasie, PA, Kobi Boonbanjerdsri of Bangkok, Thailand; his great-grandson, Jeremy S. Reed of Perkasie, PA; and his sister, Mary Beer of Hamilton Township, NJ. In addition to his parents and 1st wife, he was preceded in death by his six sisters, Elsie Lutz, Lucy Frankenfield, Florence Allen, Evelyn Wismer, Grace Thomas, Louise Leidich; and his three brothers, Hiram Beer, Paul Beer, & Francis Beer.

A memorial service will be held on February 9, 2019 at 11 am at Grace Gospel Chapel, 5582 Easton Rd (Route 611), P.O. Box 6, Plumsteadville, Pennsylvania 18949, followed by an informal visitation.
