Rita Joann Groff October 10, 1944 – March 23, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Rita Joann (Crouse) Groff, 74, of Hatfield, PA; formerly of Lansdale, PA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at her residence. She was the loving wife of the late Barry Arden Groff, Sr. for 50 years. Rita was born in Lansdale, Pennsylvania to the late Phillip Crouse and the late Violet (Wentling) Crouse.
She graduated from North Penn High School, class of 1962. Rita was employed as a seamstress for the former Hatfield Trousers. She was a member of Hopewell Christian Fellowship in Telford where she was part of the Praise Team.
Rita was also a member of Generations of Souderton. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Rita loved all animals and her property served as a natural habitat for many kinds of animals.
She enjoyed her monarch butterfly weigh station, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and the Philadelphia Flyers. In a moment’s notice, Rita could create a large meal from whatever she had in her kitchen for family, friends or anyone around. She was known for her famous Hershey’s chocolate cake that would be brought to various gatherings, especially birthday parties.
Rita was a very caring, compassionate, positive, energetic woman who had a double portion of the gift of hospitality to everyone including strangers and was always willing to help others. She is survived by her son, Barry A. Groff, Jr. & fiancé, Tina Butromovich of Hatfield, PA; her daughter, Sundae Dawn Nentwig & husband, Kevin of Hatfield, PA; her five grandchildren – Joshua, Rachel, Benjamin, Zakkary, & Trevor; her great-granddaughter, Alexandria Wagner; her three brothers, Phillip Crouse, Jr. & wife, Lorraine of Pocono Summit, PA, Terry Crouse & wife, Patty of Harleysville, PA, Jeffrey Crouse & wife, Denise of Pennsburg, PA. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her four sisters, Pauline Crouse, Janet Sherman, Phyllis Devericks, Sandy Stout and her brother, Jerry Crouse.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Hopewell Christian Fellowship, 601 Hunsicker Road, Telford, Pennsylvania 18969 from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm, followed by a funeral service at 7:30 pm. Burial will take place on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 10:00 am at St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery.
