Anna R. Detweiler May 25, 1920 – March 15, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Anna (Rosenberger) Detweiler, 98, of Souderton, PA; formerly of Doylestown, PA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Souderton Mennonite Homes. She was the loving wife of the late Alvin T. Detweiler for 68 years. Anna was born in Hilltown Twp.

, Pennsylvania to the late Henry G. Rosenberger and the late Lydia S. (Garges) Rosenberger. She graduated from Hilltown High School. Anna was employed as a secretary for I.G. Rosenberger in Silverdale, PA, as a seamer for the former Willard Hosiery Mill in Dublin, as a farmer with her husband on the Detweiler Homestead in Plumstead Twp.

, and as a tax collector for Plumstead Twp. She was a secretary for the National Farmers Organization for 14 years and a member of the Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Anna was a member of Deep Run Mennonite Church East where she served as an elder, longtime Sunday school teacher, active in the sewing circle, and was part of various singing groups.

She was an avid reader who enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, flowers, gardening, singing, canning, and traveling. Anna was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who had a strong faith and was self-confident. She is survived by her daughter, Carol A. Gross & husband, Hiram “Bud” of Souderton, PA; her son, Ronald Detweiler & wife, Cynthia of Okemos, MI; her daughter-in-law, Karen B. Detweiler of Pipersville, PA; four grandchildren – JoAnna, Joy, Rose, & Rita; and her brother, Earl G. Rosenberger & wife, Doris of Harrisonburg, VA.

In addition to her parents and husband, Anna was preceded in death by her son, Gerald R. Detweiler; her brother, Abram G. Rosenberger; her sister, Ethel R. Wenger; and her sister-in-law, Elaine Rosenberger. A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit Street, Souderton, Pennsylvania 18964 from 1:00 pm – 2:30pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:30 pm. Burial will take place at Deep Run Mennonite Cemetery East.
