Mary Ann Pavlus, age 83, of Johnstown, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville with her loving family by her side. She was born on June 18, 1935 in Johnstown, a daughter of the late John Matiasovic and Mary Havlicek Matiasovic. She was a Class of 1953 graduate of Johnstown High School.

In 1956, Mary Ann successfully completed her studies at the St. Mary’s School of Nursing and worked for many years as a Registered Nurse at the Hospital. Mrs. Pavlus later worked at the Fulton County Nursing Service until her retirement. She was of the Catholic faith, a communicant of the former St. Anthony’s Church and current Holy Trinity Church in Johnstown.

Mary Ann was the Church Organist and Choir Director at St. Anthony’s Church. Mrs. Pavlus served on the Board of Directors at the Willing Helpers Home in Johnstown and was a member of the Rosary Society of Trackside. She enjoyed Bowling, Golfing, Camping, Skiing and travelling on Cruises.

Mary Ann will be fondly remembered as a very caring and loving person. Mrs. Pavlus is survived by her husband John H. Pavlus whom she married on May 3, 1958; two sons Mark J. Pavlus and his wife, Deborah, of Scotia and Gary M. Pavlus and his wife, Lori, of Moyock, North Carolina, one sister Arleen Warren and her husband, Richard, of Guilderland; two grandchildren Matthew Pavlus and his wife, Brittiney, and Melissa Pavlus; two great grandchildren, Bryce Pavlus and Tiffiney Pavlus and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 North Melcher Street, Johnstown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Holy Trinity Church, Glebe Street, Johnstown with Rev. Matthew Wetsel as celebrant. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda in the Spring.
