Myers, 96, of South Whitley died at 8:35 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2019 at Miller’s at Oak Pointe, Columbia City, where she had been resident since 2016. She was born March 9, 1922 in Whitley County, Indiana a daughter of the late I.B. and Icel M. (Baublit) Kreider. She began her elementary school education at Cleveland Twp.

through the 6th grade then moving to Hoffman School in Columbia Twp. for her 7th & 8th grades. She completed her schooling at South Whitley High School.

On August 27, 1939 she was united in marriage to Eugene H. Myers. They made their home in Columbia City until 1952 when they moved to South Whitley. Mr. Myers died November 21, 1990.

In addition to being a full-time homemaker raising their children, she worked for Chamberlin Products, South Whitley until 1961 when she went to work for Heckman Bindery, North Manchester. In 1969, she went to work at the couple’s business, Myers Oil Company and Deli until she retired in 2004. Very active throughout her life, she enjoyed walking and tending her flower garden.

An accomplished bowler, she participated in the state bowling finals in 1979 and 1981. She is fondly remembered for her fabulous soups and love of her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Randall E. (Candy) Myers, Albion, Steven B. (Vicky) Myers, Columbia City, Patty K. Crouch, South Whitley and Beth Ann (Steve) Sickafoose, South Whitley; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Sherman Kreider; and a granddaughter, Rebecca Hollenbaugh. The funeral service is 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial is in the South Whitley Cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m. until the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials in Mary’s honor are to the American Heart Association.
