Obituary for Mary Edna Slough Overcash Mrs. Mary Edna “Bubba” Slough Overcash, 92, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Brian Center of Concord. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Gilwood Presbyterian Church. Rev.

Nathan Wheeler will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.

Mrs. Overcash was born June 19, 1926 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late J.W. Slough and Annie Stewart Slough. Mary Edna graduated from Concord High School and worked briefly at Gibson Mill in Concord.

After her marriage to Charles O. Overcash, she made a loving and welcoming home on the Overcash farm for her family. She joined Gilwood Presbyterian Church, leaving her Baptist roots, when she married Charlie and was active in the Gilwood Presbyterian Women, the Martha Dickens Circle, and various committees, as well as teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She loved all the years she sang in the choir and the friendships she made.

Mary Edna and Charlie spent many hours at Tom Johnson’s Store (after al the work was done on the farm) where they met friends and neighbors to socialize. Mary Edna lost her son, Charles Michael, in March if 1980. Some of the light went out of her life with Chuck’s death.

Then, in July of 2011, she lost her Charlie. Married on September 6, 1947, she missed Charlie and his faithful devotion until the day she died. She is also predeceased by her parents; her brother, Pete; and her sister, Ruth.

Bubba leaves many memories with her daughter, Kathy and husband Tony Corriher; her grandsons, Jonathan Corriher and Josh “Beaver” Corriher; great grandson, Garrett and his mother Melissa McDaniel Corriher. She is also survived by Ben and Rachel Overcash, Katie Emerson, Betty Overcash, her in-laws, her daughter-in-law Candy Coleman, and her forever best friend, Jean Johnson. Memorials gifts may be made to the Gilwood Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 2993 Odell School Road, Concord, NC 28027.
