Mary Ellen’s Obituary Mary Ellen Pompei, of Weisenberg Twp. and formerly of East Rockhill Twp. , PA, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Lower Saucon Twp.

, PA. She was 78. She was the wife of the late Ronald J. Pompei who died March 2, 2003.

Born in Sellersville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl “Bud” and Pauline (Fritz) Wimmer. She was a member of Pennridge High School Class of 1958. A homemaker, Mary Ellen was a lifelong member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville, where she played the organ in her early years.

In addition to playing the organ and piano in her younger years, she was an avid football fan which was highlighted by witnessing the Philadelphia Eagles Football Team winning the Super Bowl Championship. She also loved to attend Pennridge High School football games. Filled with energy, active and always “on-the-go”, Mary Ellen’s ultimate passion was in spending time with her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.

She was particularly fond of attending her grandchildren’s various sporting events over the years as well, and could always be counted on to be in the stands cheering them on. Mary Ellen also loved her friends dearly and enjoyed “girls’ nights”. She is survived by three children, Michael Pompei and his wife Lee Ann, Thomas J. Pompei and his wife Kellie, and Tina M. Hangey and her husband Nathan, all of East Rockhill Township, PA; five grandchildren, Dana, Nicholas, Nicole, Christian, and Olivia; six great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Gavin, Cooper, Hudson, Hadley, and Scarlett; a brother, Michael Wimmer, of Jim Thorpe, PA; a sister, Maureen Wimmer and her husband James Bell, of Millburn, NJ; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou York and her husband Ray, of Red Hill, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 N. Main Street, Sellersville, PA. Interment will be held privately in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Ottsville, PA. Friends may call Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, or Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice House, 2455 Black River Road, Bethlehem, PA 18015.
