Mary’s Obituary Mary Louise Elia, 77, of Hagerstown, passed away, Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Williamsport Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. Born December 25, 1941 in Hagerstown she was the daughter of the late, George William and Elizabeth H. (Miller) Short. In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Anthony G. Elia.

Mrs. Elia was a member of North Side Mennonite Church, Hagerstown. She retired as a LPN having worked for Washington County Hospital, Ravenwood and Coffman Nursing Homes. She volunteered at Western Maryland Hospital Center where she cared for her husband and she cared for her father at home.

Mrs. Elia is survived by three daughters, Julia E. Kuczinski of Pasadena, Md. , Mary K. Diaz of Hagerstown and Ruth A. Cuesta of Chambersburg, Pa. ; one sister, Debra K. Leatherman of Boonsboro; six grandsons, Tyler, Matthew and Jonathan Kuczinski, Antonio, Emilio and Manuel Cuesta; one granddaughter, Kayla Diaz and one great grandson, Alek Cuesta.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. , Hagerstown with Pastor Gary Zook officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Thursday one hour prior to services from 12:00-1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s name to North Side Mennonite Church, 716 N. Locust St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
