Our dear, sweet, beloved mother, Mary Naoma Haynie Bowman passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on May 6, 2018, in Orem, Utah. We will miss her, but we know that she is having a beautiful and joyful reunion with her sweetheart Keith and other family members. She is now at peace.

We thank all who cared for her at Orchard Park Acute Rehabilitation Center and Envision Health and Hospice. Mary Naoma, was born in Colonia Pacheco, Chihuahua, Mexico to Esaias Haynie and Eva May Peterson on December 14, 1921, as the fifth child of six. At age nine, her family moved to Douglas, Arizona, where she lived until she met our Dad—her sweetheart—Samuel Keith Bowman.

They were sealed for time and all eternity on May 31, 1946 in the Mesa, Arizona temple and were lovingly devoted to each other for 64 years. They lived much of their married life in Colonia Dublan, Chihuahua, Mexico. Naoma was a devoted mother to her nine children.

If Mom wasn’t home, it seemingly felt like no one was home, and the house was empty. She loved having her children around and desired their friends to feel welcome in our home. She created beautifully decorated birthday cakes for each of her children, to help them feel special.

Mom was an excellent horse-woman and helped Dad on the ranch, rounding up cattle, branding, and other ranch related work. She loved going into the Sierra Madre mountains with her family, on week-long horse pack trips. She would always point out the beauties of nature and taught us to love sunsets, rain storms, and everything nature.

She loved music and always had beautiful music playing in our home. She taught us manners and insisted we say, “Yes Ma’am” and “Yes Sir”. She taught us how to work hard and follow through with our responsibilities.

She showed us how to serve others and have compassion for those less fortunate. Her counsel to her children and grandchildren was “always be active in the church, love your family and be kind to each other”. Naoma served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in various callings.

She served in the Dublan Ward Relief Society Presidency for many years. She was the Guide Patrol leader for several years and took the 11 year scouts into the mountains on camping trips. As Girl’s Camp Leader, she made girl’s camp, the highlight of the Summer for many young women through the years.

She accompanied her husband Keith, on countless trips into the Sierra Madre mountains, to visit the branches of the Church as the Stake Mission Leader. They served a fulltime mission as District Presidents to the Tarahumara District. They traveled throughout the Sierra Madres to remote areas in and around the great Barrancas (Canyons) of Chihuahua to meet with members of the Church.

She served as the scribe when Keith gave Patriarchal Blessings. She and Keith, were Temple ordinance workers in the Colonia Juarez Mexico Temple for years. Naoma was a beloved school teacher for 23 years in Escuela Manuel Dublan Elementary and taught many children until the age of 73.

She loved learning and passed that on to her students. Naoma was preceded in death by: husband Samuel Keith Bowman, parents Esaias Haynie & Eva May Peterson, brother Ralph Dean Haynie, sister Eva Elma Farnsworth, brother Otho Dwight Haynie, sister Clara May Jorgenson, and sister Dorothy Jean Waddell. She is survived by her children: Keith LaRae (Charlene Cluff), Mary Eva (J.

Douglas Kvamme), Naoma Susann (James Wagner), Samuel Kent (Marian Stevens) Nancy Jenene, Patrick Tracy (Cathy Bonner), Karl Henry (Charles Berger), Claudia Ann (David Nelson) Anthony Esaias (Rosalee Egbert) and 36 grandchildren and 81 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Lindon West Building, 610 West 100 South, Lindon. Family and friends may attend a viewing from 9:00 – 10:30 am prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Lindon City Cemetery: 600 North 200 East, Lindon, Utah. Condolences may be sent to the family at www. olpinmortuary.com.
