Obituary for Mary Susan Stowell Cohoes – Mary Susan Stowell, 58, of Cohoes, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Joan Nicole Prince Home in Scotia. Born in Troy on August 20, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Winifred Finn. Mary grew up in Watervliet where she attended St. Patrick’s School and was a member of St. Patrick’s Church.
She was a 1977 graduate of Keveny Memorial Academy in Cohoes and went on to study bereavement at Hudson Valley Community College. It was there that she had the opportunity to meet Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, a pioneer in near-death studies. After finishing her studies Mary worked in retail in several local stores, including Fashion Bug, JC Penney, and Salvation Army.
She was always grateful for the many wonderful people she got to meet while working at these places. Mary moved to Pittsfield, MA for a while, but returned home to New York once she became a grandmother. Mary did lots of reading and especially enjoyed her murder mystery novels.
She loved to dance, laugh, and always have a good time wherever she went. She was her happiest when she was spending time with her family and friends. Mary was the bright spot in any room she entered and will be missed by all those who were lucky enough to have known her.
Mary leaves behind her 3 sons; Donald Belcher, Jr. of South Carolina, Daniel Belcher of Delmar, and Bryan Stowell of Lanesboro, MA, her grandchildren; Bella-Cera Belcher, Finnigan Belcher, Hayden Belcher, Caleb Belcher, Ethan Belcher, Adalyn Galliher, Jilian Peltier, Jiraya Belcher, Ezekiel Belcher, Khaleesi Winifred Belcher, and Abigail Kendrick, her lifelong best friend, Janet Casey of Cohoes, and her fiancé, Timothy Lever of Buskirk, NY.
