MARY OLIVER TINGEN CLAYTON age 89, of 247 Windsor Drive, Roxboro, NC died Friday night, April 20, 2018 at Person Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Clayton was born June 25, 1928 in Person County, NC daughter of the late Thomas & Annie Lee Oliver and was wife of 39 years to the late Ira Cleveland “I.C.” Tingen and 12 years to the late Wilbert Clayton. She was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp.

and was a member of Bethel Hill Baptist Church. Mary enjoyed talking to her family and friends on the phone and having coffee and lunch at the drug store. Surviving are a daughter, Wanda T. Braswell & husband, Freddie of Cape Carteret, NC son, David T. Tingen & wife, Cheryl of Roxboro, NC, seven grandchildren and a great grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Clayton is preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy Tingen, Randy Tingen, a sister, and four brothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2018 at Bethel Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Robbie Dunn officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests after the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home. Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Hill Baptist Church, 201 Old US 501 Hwy.
