ADA LUGENE WILKINS POWELL age 77, of 355 Allie Clay Road, Roxboro, NC died peacefully at her home Tuesday afternoon, June 5, 2018 with her family by her side. Mrs. Powell was born October 19, 1940 in Granville County, NC daughter of the late Charlie & Ada Little Whitt Wilkins and was wife of 46 years to David Lee Powell who survives. She was retired from Eaton Corp.

after 32 years of service, was a member of Montwood Baptist Church, enjoyed being outside, traveling, and dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving in addition to her husband are four children, Darlene Foster & husband, Allen, Tammy Elliott & husband, Russ all of Virgilina, VA, Aaron Hardy & wife, Kellie of Roxboro, NC, Danny Powell & wife, Wendy of Timberlake, NC, three brothers, Roy Wilkins & wife, Joyce, Willie Wilkins, Lawrence Wilkins & wife, Rebecca all of Oxford, NC, thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren with another expected in October, four sisters-in-law, Betty Wilkins, Eunice Wilkins, Leola Wilkins, and Ann Rice. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Powell is preceded in death by five brothers, Robert Wilkins, Junior Wilkins, James Wilkins, Rennie Wilkins, Albert Wilkins, step-son, David Lynn Powell, two sisters-in-law, Brenda Wilkins, and Lucinda Wilkins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2018 at New Life Independent Baptist Church with the Pastor Mike Whitt and the Rev. Herbert Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and guests from 6:30 till 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 at Strickland and Jones Funeral Services and other times at the home. Pallbearers will be Allen Foster, Steven Foster, Duncan Hardy, Jason Parker, Reed Riddle, and Dean Weidmann. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Elliott, Larry David Powell, and Ricky Powell.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial gifts may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are by Strickland and Jones Memorial Funeral Services, 1810 Durham, Road, Roxboro, NC 27573. Online condolences may be made at stricklandandjonesfs.com.
