ESTER MAE “POOKIE” BOWLING WHEELER, age 79, of 237 Jack Sherman Road, Rougemont, NC died Saturday afternoon, October 20, 2018 at her home. Mrs. Wheeler was born January 21, 1939 in Person County, NC daughter of the late Ollie Lewis & Flora “Boozie” Taylor Bowling and was wife of 43 years to William Burnette Wheeler, Sr. who survives. She was retired from Eaton Corp.

after 36 years of service. Surviving in addition to her husband are a sister, Peggy Mangum & husband, Robert of Roxboro, NC, step-son, William Wheeler, Jr. & wife, Frances of Oxford, NC, two grandchildren, Amber Wilkins, Jessica Hamlett, two step-grandchildren, Christina Wheeler, Anna Wheeler, two great grandchildren, Savannah Cagle, and Alexander Cagle. In addition to her parents Mrs. Wheeler is preceded in death by a son, David Trent Wilkins, sister, Shirley B. Jacobs, two brothers, Robert Bowling, and Bennie Bowling.

Graveside memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jeremy Quist officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mt.

Zion Baptist Church Caretaker Fund, 1171 US Highway 158, Oxford, NC 27565. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Person County Home, Health, and Hospice. Arrangements are by Strickland and Jones Memorial Funeral Services, 1810 Durham Road, Roxboro, NC 27573.
