Obituary of MaryEllen Shull MaryEllen Shull, 89, passed away at the home of her daughter in Goldendale on May 3, 2018. She was born in Malden, MA on May 18, 1928 to Charlotte (Taylor) and Edgar McCartan. MaryEllen lost her mother when she was only 9 months old.

Her grandparents adopted her and moved the family to Port Townsend, WA. During the Depression, MaryEllen worked at many jobs. Beginning at age nine, she delivered sales flyers for The Sentinel.

She worked at the soda fountain at Jack’s on Main Street, before it became “The Top Hat”. She worked for the State Highway Dept. and always felt she was given excellent training in accounting.

This knowledge led her to work at the County Health Dept. , the Auditors office, and she became the Business Manger for the Goldendale School District, a position she held until retirement. MaryEllen married Raymond Shull on September 10, 1949.

They made their home and raised four daughters in the Centerville area. MaryEllen was an inexperienced farmer, so her great sense of humor saw her through many perplexing situations! She was a life member of the Centerville Grange, she also had a love of playing Bridge, and she was an avid traveler.

She rarely had to be asked twice if she wanted to go! MaryEllen is survived by her daughters, Linda Shull-Rich and her husband Jim, and Kay Hill and her husband Jim all of Goldendale; and Jessica Shull of Camp Verde, Arizona. She had eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond R. Shull, and her daughter Julie Reeves, who passed away in 2016. Memorial Services are being planned and will be held in July, 2018.
