Matthew Joseph Dube, 58, returned to his heavenly home on September 7, 2018 after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Matthew was born to Albert B. Dube and Margaret L. (Giberti) in Middleboro, MA, on June 29, 1960.

He was immersed in the Christian community that would be his lifelong support from an early age. He graduated from Middleboro High School in 1978 and Bridgewater State College in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science duel degree in History and Political Science. His career involved working in Hospitals within their Medical Billing Departments.

He was an elected member of the Middleboro School Committee and was on the Committee to save the Middleboro Town Hall. Matthew was active in community organizations, which included the Lakeville Lions Club and Middleboro Lodge of Elks. He also served as a Youth Mass Lector at Sacred Heart Church in Middleboro.

Matthew was a historian at heart and enjoyed political discussions. He also liked playing the flute, reading, gardening, cribbage, and was a true fan of both the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his Creator.

Matthew is survived by his parents Albert B. Dube and Margaret L. Gross and his siblings: Stephen Dube and his wife Kimberly; Daniel Dube and his wife Deborah; and his sister Suzanne Dube, as well as several step brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place on Friday September 14, 2018 from 5-7 PM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford St., Lakeville, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday September 15, 2018 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church in Middleboro.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to a Charity of you choice.
