Melvin Edward Allen December 24, 1952 – February 20, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Melvin Edward Allen, 66, of McAlester died Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the McAlester Regional Health Center. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Chaney Harkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Monday, February 25th at 1:00 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, McAlester with Pastor Chip Lott officiating.

The burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Sheppard, James McClaughrey, Timmy Bowen, Lonnie Buff, Justin Ragan, and Jim Williamson. Honorary pallbearers will be James Lee Belvin, Richard Rose, Issiah Belvin, Abel Belvin and Ronon Rose.

Melvin was born December 24, 1952 in McAlester. He married Evie Wilson on December 27, 1980 at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Melvin spent his entire working career at Cathey & Associates as an installer.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Evie Allen of the home; daughters, Bonita Allen and fiancé, Richard Rose of Yukon and Felicia Belvin and husband, James Lee of McAlester; six grandchildren, Nikki Vestuto, Issiah Belvin, Abel Belvin, MaKenna Belvin, Ronon Rose and baby boy Rose; sisters, Georgetta “Gigi” Wood and Ruth Ann Talley and husband John all of Bentonville, AR; father and mother-in-law, Walter and Laura Wilson of McAlester; sisters-in-law, Laura Ann Sheppard and husband, Jimmy of Crowder Point, Deborah McClaughrey and husband, James of Dow, Donna Bowen and husband, Timmy of McAlester, Liz Buff and husband, Lonnie of Ashland and Angel Ragan and husband, Justin of Indianola; special friend, Jim Williamson and wife, Etna of McAlester; special friend and boss, Dennis Cathey and wife, Alice of McAlester; and many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Melvin is preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Allen and brother, George “Tiny” Allen.
