James “Red” Darrell Bryant, Sr. October 23, 1958 – February 13, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card James “Red” Darrell Bryant, Sr, 60, of McAlester, died Wednesday, February 13, 2019 in Tulsa. The family will greet friends and visitors from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday at Bishop Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Emmanuel Baptist Church officiated by Rev.

Keith Kinnamon. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Masonic funeral rites will be provided by Kiowa-Staples Lodge #117, officiated by Mark Halyard.

Pallbearers will be Richard Smith, Hunter Ezell, Daniel Duvall, Daniel Smith, J.D. Grissom, and Jeff Daniels. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Kiowa-Staples Lodge #117, Sammy McBride, Christopher McBride, John Ezell, and Rich Stembaugh. Red was born to Frank and Patsy (Ivey) Bryant on October 23, 1958 in McAlester.

He attended McAlester Schools where he played football for the Buffaloes, and graduated in 1980. Red married Patricia Ann McBride on September 11, 1981 in McAlester. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the City of McAlester, retiring in 2008.

He enjoyed fishing, coon hunting, gardening, and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, and was initiated into the Kiowa-Staples Lodge #117 on November 15, 2004. Red is survived by his mother: Patsy Buxbaum; wife: Patty Bryant; daughters: Lindsey Smith and husband, Richard, Ashley Bryant; son: James “J.J.” Bryant, Jr; grandchildren: Hunter Ezell, Kevin Ezell, Clayton Bryant, Jaxson Smith; and sister: Phyllis Duvall and Rich Stembaugh.

Also, niece: Katye Duvall; nephew: Daniel Duvall and wife, Beverly, all of McAlester; mother-in-law and father-in-law: JoAnn McBride and Sam; brother-in-law: Steven McBride; nephews: Sammy McBride, all of McAlester, Christopher McBride and wife, Amanda; and great-nephew: Kyle McBride, all of Eufaula.
