Roxanne McMurtrey September 18, 1955 – February 02, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Roxanne McMurtrey, age 63, of Haileyville, died Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Beare Manor Nursing Center in Hartshorne. Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at the Elmwood Cemetery Pavilion in Hartshorne with Chaplain Jarrod Peterson officiating. Burial will follow.

Roxanne was born on September 18, 1955 in McAlester to John J. and Patsy (Freeman) McMurtrey. She was a graduate of Haileyville High School. She attended the University of Oklahoma and received a B.S. in Journalism and a M.A. in Education.

She taught in High School. She enjoyed writing music, playing piano and guitar. She was a beloved sister and a great caregiver for her parents.

She is survived by her son, Brodie Leon Kerr; father, John J. McMurtrey; brother, Joe Joe McMurtrey; sister, Renee (McMurtrey) Gray; nephews, Dr. John F. Gray, Lance Cpl. Joel Gray and Rockee Joe Jones; aunts and uncles, Dotty Faith, Ed McMurtrey, Frank McMurtrey, Shirley McBee and Charlene Butkis. Thanks for the support of her family.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Patsy J. McMurtrey.
