Melvin’s Obituary Melvin Dover, 69 of Screven, died Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Southeast Georgia Health Systems in Brunswick after an extended illness. The Florida native lived in Wayne County most of his adult life, was a member of Screven First Baptist Church and the Men’s Sunday School Class. Melvin was a retired CSX employee, loved to fish, hunt and work on small engines in his shop.

He was predeceased by his parents, James Dover and Elizabeth Little; a half-brother, Donnie Little. Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Peggy Barnes Dover of Screven; 4 sons, Wesley (Cherrie) Dover of Stearns, Kentucky, Thomas (Stella) Dover of Smyrna, Brian (Veronica) Dover of Minford, Ohio and Chris (Amber) Dover of Phenix City, Alabama; 6 grandchildren, Kelby (Samantha) Dover, Jamie (Christina) Dover, Caleb Coleman,, Aiden Dover, Michael Dover and Leeland Dover; 3 great grandchildren, Katie Beth, Beau and Rory Dover; two sisters, Phyllis (Robert) Graham of Screven and Glenda Whittington of Illinois; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 AM, Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Dr. Brad Ellington officiating.

Interment will follow in the Screven City Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Kelby Dover, Jamie Dover, Michael Dover, Aiden Dover, Larry and Barry Barnes, Justin Graham, Ross Gardner and Shane Brinkley. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Class of Screven First Baptist Church.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Southeast Georgia Health System Nunnally House, 3215 Kemble Avenue, Brunswick, Ga. 31520.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup, Ga. is in charge of arrangements.
