! Bibliography Mother Bertha Mae Perry was born on August 9, 1937 in Emanuel County, Twin City, Georgia to the late Isadore (Ado) Banner and Ella Mae Quarterman Banner. Mother Perry is the third born of five children from this union; Jimmy, Booker T. Bertha, Willie Paul and Ethel.
She was educated in the public schools of Wayne County Georgia. Relocating to Florida with her family in the mid 1950’s resulted in a meeting of hearts with the love of her life, her beloved husband George Perry, Sr They were married in Marion, New York in 1957 and in this union is five children; Bobby, George Jr, Carolyn, Vernastine, and Debra (deceased).
Religious Affiliation Mother Perry has been a member of Refuge Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Sorrento, Florida for over 60 years. In 1958 she received the gift of the holy ghost and was baptized in the name of Jesus under the pastorage of the late Bishop Rual B. McCoy. She is an Honorary Missionary, served as a the ABYPU President, Choir President, Usher Board President and in many other capacities for the work of the Lord.
Mother Perry never met a stranger, she was loving and kind to all. Her giving and loving spirit was reflected through her service to her family, friends, and community. She was a living example of Colossians 3:23; She worked willingly at whatever she did, as though she was working for the Lord rather than for people.
Mother’s Departure Mother Perry has left a legacy of love, wisdom and respect for all that knew her. She leaves to cherish and celebrate her life: her husband, George Perry, Sr., Four children, Bobby Banner (Donna), George Perry (Vanessa), Carolyn Maxwell (Patrick), Vernastine Jenkins; A kind hearted god son, Joey Frederick; A loving and caring niece, Geraldine Wiggins; Brother, Jimmy Banner (Annette); A host of Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Other Relatives, Friends, and Sister and Bothers in the Lord. Dad’s Farewell I never thought I would have to say “good-bye” to you.
