Obituary for Nancy Panther (Denault) Nancy (Denault) Panther died peacefully at her cottage on Lake Pleasant in Attica, MI, her “happy place” on Sunday June, 24, 2018. Born January 22, 1938 in Detroit, MI. Nancy lived the majority of her life in Roseville, MI.
Nancy was predeceased by her first husband and father of her children, Frank Richard Denault and second husband Fred Panther. Dear mother of James (Audrey) Denault, Sharon (Frank) Lashier, Carol Denault, Diane (Ted) Gladden, Daniel (MaryAnn) Denault, Frank Denault Jr., Karen (Danial) Lackowski Loving grandmother of Justin (Kristen Croyden) Gladden, Scott (Marianne) Denault, Jessica (Justin) VandeVrede, Angela (Christopher Court) Gladden, Allen (Jolene) Denault, Kristen (Joshua) Robertson, Cassandra (Dave Strohschein) Kowalik, Frank (Katie) Lashier, Kevin Denault, Chelsea Denault, Allison (James Youness) Denault Proud Great-grandmother to Julia Szasz, Kaylee Bosenberry, Jacob Robertson, Chad Smith Jr., Alycia Robertson, Alexis Gladden, David Strohschein, Mia Grammatico, Lola Denault, Damien Denault, Brayden Robertson, Jaxson Strohschein, Ella Strohschein, Henry Denault Loving sister of Frank (Linda) Garner, Fred (Roseann) Garner, Gloria (Lee) Kienzle, Rosemary Garner, Lorraine (Steve) Kaminski, Roberta Garner. Sister-in-law to Claude Johns and Jim Healy.
Predeceased by siblings Donelda Garner, Cheryl Johns, Joseph “Tony” Garner, Joyce Garner and Mary Healy. Nancy is also remembered by many nieces and nephews, special God-children, countless cousins, endless friends that became family, wonderful neighbors and an abundance of lives she touched through her volunteerism. Nancy retired from the City of Roseville in December 1994 after 20 years of service.
She was an active member and one time regional chairperson of the Society of St Vincent DePaul, past officer of American Red Cross, Originator of the first Disaster Committee in the Archdiocese of Detroit. She later served as Chairperson for the National Disaster Committee which had her traveling to disasters worldwide including Haiti, Florida, Oklahoma and California, helping disaster victims find much needed food, clothing, medical attention and shelter. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church in Roseville which merged with St Pio Catholic Church.
Nancy’s passion was caring for those in need, those who had fallen on hard times, and the homeless situation in Macomb County. She celebrated 34 years of ministry to those who live in poverty and homelessness. She was a member of the Macomb County Homeless Coalition.
Nancy liaised with many churches down the Gratiot Corridor to temporarily feed and shelter those living on the streets. She tirelessly raised funds annually by selling her homemade crocheted items to provide the homeless with undergarments, hats and gloves for the winter. She “walked for warmth” to raise funds even when her legs could no longer cooperate.
Nancy’s awards, recognitions and accomplishments are too plentiful to list. She loved her God, her family, her cottage, her home… in exactly that order. Her hobbies included gardening, composting, baking, canning and crocheting!

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2018 from 2-8pm with a Scripture Service at 7pm at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Michigan 48026. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 11am at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Catholic Church, 18720 13 Mile Road, Roseville, Michigan 48066. Instate beginning at 10:30am.
Interment at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The family requests donations to St Vincent DePaul or The Macomb County Homeless Coalition in Nancy’s’ Honor.
