Obituary for Nelson Eddie “Ed” McCoy Nelson Eddie “Ed” McCoy, 76, of Bonita Springs, FL passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers. Formerly of Richmond, VA he had been a resident of Bonita Springs since 2003. Ed was born March 19, 1942 in Parrot, VA the son of the late Harry Harding and Ruth Naomi (Minnick) McCoy.

Ed was a graduate of Lees-McRae College and earned his bachelor’s degree at East Tennessee State University. Mr. McCoy then taught and coached at Culpeper County High School in Culpeper, VA. Ed also worked for the State of Virginia Tuberculosis Control before starting his career with State Farm Insurance Company in 1969.

He retired as an Executive from State Farm in 2001. Ed was an avid golfer who also enjoyed fishing but his favorite activing lately was watching television and reading on his lanai. Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Mary Ann (Woodall) McCoy; loving son, Todd (Amy) McCoy of Mechanicsville, VA; cherished grandchildren, Mary (Joseph) Vietmeier, Jessica McCoy and Gavin McCoy, all of Mechanicsville, VA; and great grandchildren, Cyrus, Cora, Damian and Carter.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, 9751 Bonita Beach Rd. , Bonita Springs, FL 34135. Inurnment will follow in Resurrection Garden.
