Nicholas E. “Nick” Olberding, 58, a resident of the Beaverton community, died Monday evening, September 3, 2018 at his home. Private Cremation Rites were held at the Hoyt Crematory in Forest Grove. NICHOLAS EDWARD OLBERDING was born July 31, 1960 in Portland, Oregon, the son of the late Francis Michael “Frank” Olberding and Ernestine “Mickey” (Waters) Olberding.

He was raised and received his education in the communities of Cedar Hills, Newport, Oregon and Milwaukie, Oregon where he attended Elementary School. In 1972, he and his family moved to the Cornelius community and he attended Hillsboro High School, having been a graduate of the Class of 1978. Upon his high school graduation he joined the United States Navy on June 26, 1978 in Portland, Oregon.

Nick served for five years, until receiving his honorable discharge on November 1, 1983 at the rank of AQ3 (E-4). He had worked as a contractor in the construction/remodeling industry for many years. Nick was raised in the Catholic Church.

Among his special interests, he enjoyed his work, having been an accomplished carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mickey Olberding; his brothers Mike, Dave and Dennis as well as his sisters Kathy Buxton, Camille Miller and Alice Burgy. Survivors include his three sisters and brothers-in-law, Marge and Bill Beal, of Redmond, Oregon; Theresa and Doug McAllister, of Lake Havasu, Arizona and Gigi and Tony Andrade, of Laurelwood, Oregon; his two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan and Karen Olberding, of Oak Grove, Oregon; Chris and Susan Olberding, of Bend, Oregon and his brother-in-law, Al Miller, of Forest Grove, Oregon.
