O. Berneda “Bea” Harrison, 89, of Brazil, passed away at Union Hospital on April 12, 2018 following complications of a stroke. Bea was born on March 1, 1929, in Corbin, Kentucky the daughter of H. Richard and Sarah (Earle) Alsip. Bea graduated from Van Buren High School.

She married Walter Harrison Jr. in October 1, 1951. He preceded her in death in 2000 after 49 years of marriage. Bea worked in various capacities within Clay Community Schools over the years.

Most recently she had… Read More » worked as a teacher’s aide at Meridian Street and Forest Park schools. Bea was a devoted member of the 1st Baptist Church. She enjoyed volunteering for Kids Klothes Closet and the Backpack Program, thanksgiving Dinner funeral dinners etc.

She also enjoyed working in her yard, tending to her flower gardens and many varieties of flowers and seeing her great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Sarah Alsip; her husband Walter Harrison; a son Richard “Richie” Harrison; siblings: Raymond Alsip, Elmer Alsip, Luther Alsip, Don Alsip, Juanita Hillig, Geneva Leichty, Alfreda Steen and Virginia Alsip; in-laws: Phyllis and Kenny Crabb. Survivors include her children: Jerry Harrison, Diane Harrison, Terry Harrison; grandchildren: Nikki Nelson and husband Jordan, Michael-Ryan Jones, Aidan Harrison, and Alex Harrison; great-grandchildren: Matthew Nelson, Adam Nelson, and Lucas Nelson; a brother Charles Alsip and wife Jean; sister-in-law Jane Alsip; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834 on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 11-1. Services will be at the funeral home on Thursday, at 1:00pm with Pastor Mark Thompson officiating.

Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
