Olen A M Kinney Sr , January 08, 1960 — May 23, 2018

Mr. Olen A. McKinney, Sr., age 58, of Marion, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. A McDowell County native, Olen was born on January 8, 1960 to the late Jason S. McKinney and Sybil Rhinehart McKinney. He was currently employed at Coats American in Woodlawn.

Olen loved the Lord and formerly sang in the Song Ministers Gospel Group and attended Going Home Baptist Church. A hard working man, he provided unselfishly for his family and they and all his friends will remember him for his big heart and wonderful sense of humor. Music was very much a part of his life and he loved to sing and play the guitar.

He was also an avid antique collector and had a nose for finding hidden gems amongst the clutter. He loved his family very much and will be deeply missed. Saddened by his passing are his beloved wife of 15 years, Jewel Ledwell Presnell McKinney, of the home; two sons, Olen McKinney, Jr. of Nebo and Adam Jason Elliott of Marion; two step-children, Terry Lee Presnell, Jr. of Greensboro and Keri Presnell of Marion; two sisters, Annette Stines and husband Tommy of Marion and Brenda Morgan and husband Bill of Union Mills; six grandchildren, Jaden and Xavier Taylor, Serenity McKinney, Eve Elliott, and Skylar and Dylan Presnell; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will be available to receive friends at Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion between the hours of 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018. A service of remembrance and celebration of his life will follow at 11:00 a.m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Rev. Jeff Duncan officiating.

Burial will follow in Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery. Flowers are appreciated, however, those desiring to make a memorial contribution in his memory are encouraged to consider Lily’s Place at 378 S. Main Street, Marion, NC 28752.
