Obituary for Oscar Hawes “Sam” Maddox Harlem, GA – Oscar Hawes “Sam” Maddox, 70, husband of the late JoAnn Maddox, entered into rest on Sunday, October 7, 2018. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday October 13, 2018 at the home of Larry and Terry Waks of Harlem, Georgia. Sam, a lifelong native of Columbia County, was the son of the late O.C. and Annie Maddox.

He was a wonderful “Papa” and loved the Lord. Survivors include his children, Joseph Maddox (Andrea), Jeffery Maddox (Janine), Rusty Newman (Elizabeth), Jennifer Maddox Young and Victoria Deaton (Keith); one sister, Terry Waks (Larry); three brothers, Jerry Maddox (Wanda), Lester Maddox (Wendy) and James Maddox (Jennifer); and 13 grandchildren.
