Obituary for Oscar Lee English Beloved husband, cherished father, devoted grandfather and friend to many, Oscar Lee English, age 78, passed away with his family by his side on June 17, 2018 in Marshall, Texas. He was born on November 12, 1939 in Beckville, Texas to Ted and Hazel (Hesser) English. He graduated Marshall High School with the Class of 1957 and attended Panola College earning his Associates Degree.

Oscar proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, training at Fort Jackson, SC and was stationed at Barksdale in Shreveport, retiring with the National Guard after 20 years of service. He worked for many years at Thikol Ammunition Plant and retired from Alcoa after 16 years of service. On December 24, 1960, Oscar married the love of his life, Linda Lee (Pepper) English.

He is preceded in death by his wife; his parents, Ted and Hazel English; his brother, John Roy English; his sister, Elizabeth Hamn and his uncle, James Carl English. He is survived by his loving daughter, Janna Lynn English Ardoin and her husband, Cory; his grandsons, Denver Lee Eldridge and Eric Nelson Hernandez II; his great-granddaughters, Greenleigh Jade Eldridge and Gracyn Nicole Eldridge; his cousins, Tonya English and Trisha English; his adopted granddaughter, Gricelda Aldavera and adopted great-grandchildren, Tori Vega, Hagen Lee Vega and Caitlin Parker. He is also survived by many others who were blessed by his friendship.

Oscar was known for helping others, no matter their need. He is responsible for several children who graduated high school who, without his help and guidance, might not have otherwise reached that goal. He loved to see people succeed, loved car rides, ice cream, Elvis movies and Elvis music.

He is even known to have loved a little Michael Jackson music from time to time, but his true passion in life was his daughter and his grandsons. Oscar lived life well and he was well loved. Graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 10:30am at Yates Cemetery in Scottsville, TX with Pastor Jason Harris officiating.
