Obituary for Patricia Miller MILLER (nee Doyle), Patricia – 87, of Mt. Laurel and formerly of Cape May, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home with her family by her side on October 3, 2018. She is predeceased by her husband, William James Miller (1996) and her grandson, William James Miller, III (2017).

Patricia’s memory will forever be cherished by her loving family which includes her three children, Linda Miller, William J. Miller, Jr. and Shelley Ziegler; 5 grandchildren, John (and Andrea), Matthew, Jessica, Patrick and Katherine; three great grandchildren, Madison, Rae and Nathaniel. The family would like to especially acknowledge and sincerely thank Charlotte Cudjoe-Jones for the extraordinary care she provided Patricia. Patricia (aka Trish) worked at the Philadelphia Inquirer for over 36 years, starting in the secretary pool, eventually working her way to the position of Executive Secretary to the Editor.

Trish thrived in the hectic and changing environment, meeting such as luminaries as Cher, Hillary Clinton, Ross Perot, among others. She was exceedingly professional and widely respected in the company. Trish was an avid cat lover, and sometimes argued that her cats might hedge out her (secondarily) beloved grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her cats Zachary and Molly, who was her favorite, and left behind her third cat, Julie. Trish was also an accomplished sketch artist and watercolorist, and left many drawings behind for her loved ones. Trish also had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She looked forward to nothing more than the opportunity to introduce them to a live performance of the Nut Cracker in Philadelphia, with dinner in her favorite restaurant XIX. She always bought a keepsake from the performance, which they all hold dear to their hearts. Trish was well-known for her meticulous attention to detail and almost obsessive organizational skills.

Though she was never overtly emotional, Trish had wisdom and knowledge beyond even her 87 years. She personally had a very dry sense of humor, but Trish was known for dissolving into fits of hysterics, sometimes at the silliest of things. It was at these moments that her friends and family saw the wide breadth of life that she sometimes kept hidden.

Family and friends are invited to attend Patricia’s viewing on Thursday morning (Oct. 11th) in the Spilker Funeral Home, 815 Washington St., Cape May from 9 am until 10:50 am. Her funeral ceremony will follow and begin at 11:30 am in the the Cold Spring Presbyterian Church, 780 Seashore Rd.
