Paul Charles Schmidt April 25, 1938 – January 10, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Paul Charles Schmidt, of Loveland, CO passed away Thursday morning, January 10, 2019 at the Pathways Hospice Center at Mckee Medical Center. Paul was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on April 25, 1938. He grew up in Beaver, PA, graduating from Beaver High School in 1956.

Paul came to Colorado when he joined the Air Force, where he served at Lowry Air Force Base from 1959-1962. While he was in the Air Force, he spent 2 1/2 years as an instructor in Radar and Fire Control Systems. Paul graduated from Denver University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and was on the Dean’s Honor Roll for 9 consecutive quarters.

After college, Paul became a typographer and started his first business, AlphaGraphics in Denver. His second business, ColoradoTypographics was open in the Loveland area for 24 years until he retired in 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Emily Schmidt, Johnstown, CO; ex-wife, Lynn Stockton (Phil True), Johnstown, CO; a niece, Susan Dunlap, Beaver, PA; and a nephew, Bryan (Melissa)Steel, Patterson Heights, PA.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, William L. Schmidt and Jean Schmidt (Harbourt), and a sister, Virginia Jean Steel (Bill). An avid jazz music lover, he had his own jazz band in high school and played the baritone sax. His band was so good they not only played at his own senior prom, they used to stand on the roof of the refreshment stand at the drive-in theater and play during intermission.

He loved the Denver Broncos (and hated the Chiefs! ) and the Colorado Rockies. When he was younger he enjoyed bicycling and more than once attempted to bike from Loveland to the top of Trail Ridge Road.

A private celebration of life will be held. Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home is handling arrangements, 1102 N. Lincoln, Loveland, (970) 667-5885.
