Obituary for Mr. Paul R. Desrosiers Mr. Paul René Desrosiers passed away on April 13th at the age of 77. He was born in Springfield MA, son of Joseph Desrosiers and Beatrice Beaudreault. He was an Army veteran, serving in the US Army.

He was honorably discharged from reserve in 1968. Paul was educated in Springfield and received a BS from AIC and an MA in Guidance and Psychological Services from Springfield College. In 1987 he received a master’s in Social Work from the School of Social Welfare at State University of New York at Albany.

Paul worked for over 30 years as a School Adjustment Counselor in the Pittsfield school system. Totally dedicated to helping students find purpose in life and feel accepted in the community, he organized many group counseling sessions and provided parents education courses. Paul was also involved for many years in the Helen Berube Teen Parent program.

As a strong democrat, Paul enjoyed bringing his voice to the local Democratic Party and to the Berkshire Democratic Brigades, a group he has been part of since its very beginning. For many years he volunteered at Tanglewood, his favorite summer place. He was an avid tennis player and golfer, a Red Sox fan, and a man for whom sports were a way to a healthy life.

Paul was a very dedicated father and husband. He loved life and enjoyed every minute of it taking care of “the boys,” of his family, enjoying many trips together exploring the United States and Europe. He leaves his very close and loving family: his wife, Nicole, of 49 years, his two sons: David and his wife Wheatly and their little Lulzime; Daniel and his wife Bridget and their 2 year old Camille; his dear sister Lorraine Johnston; his niece Amy and her family, his nephew Eddie and his family; his cousin and childhood friend Ray d’Anjou (wife Pat and children Denise and Marc); many cousins and his French brothers-in-law, Henri, Gaston and Marcel and their families.

He also leaves his very close and dear friends Bill and Sharon Ballen, his fraternity brother Jay Carlatto and his “daughter” Kim Bonnivier Lathrop. Funeral Notice: There will be a Commemoration of Paul’s life on Sunday April 29th at the Unitarian Church on Wendell Avenue in Pittsfield, MA at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires or to a charity of choice, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
