Obituary for Carolyn Leyda Carolyn Leyda, 72, passed away on May 8, 2018. Born in Pittsfield on September 21, 1945 the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Popp Arpante, she attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School, South Jr. High School and graduating from Pittsfield High School. Upon graduation Carolyn worked for Silvio Conte’s office in Washington, D.C. Carolyn resided in DC for some time but later returned to Pittsfield, MA to raise her daughter Monique.

Carolyn worked at General Electric Company, then took up a home business of making driftwood craft and flower centerpieces. Carolyn loved the smell of flowers, perfume and gladiolas. She grew up listening to Elvis Priestly, Chubby Checker and dancing the twist.

Famous stars from Hollywood magazines were on her wall. She bought her parents their first family stereo record player. Carolyn leaves behind her daughter Monique R. Leyda of Chicopee, MA.

, four grandchildren; Shawnda Hudson and Katelyn Leyda of Springfield, MA. , Jasmine and Jacob Leyda of Chicopee, MA. Carolyn also leaves three sisters; Mary F. Arpante of Arington, Va.

, Jean Arpante Phaneuf of Williamstown, MA, and Barbara Arpante of Pittsfield, MA. Funeral Notice: Funeral service for Ms. Carolyn Leyda will be Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA, with the Rev. Msgr.

Michael Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph Church, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
