Obituary for Edith A. West Edith A. West of Craneville Place in Dalton left this earthly plane on Sunday September 23, 2018. She was 81 years old. Born on March 16, 1937 in Patterson, NJ to the late Francis and Edith West, she graduated from Saugerties High School in Saugerties, NY.

Edith was a Residential Specialist at Wassaic School for many years before moving to the Berkshires. She was a long-time member of the West Stockbridge Sportsman Club. She enjoyed reading, history, animals, country music, classic car shows, ice cream, and spending time with her family.

She was pre-deceased by her son, Thomas Hanley, her long-time fiancé, Stephen Bednarczyk, and brothers George and Jack West. Edith is survived by her siblings Frank West (wife Patricia) of Catskill, NY and her sister Carolyne West Vedder of Lynchburg, VA. Children William Hanley of Pine Plains, NY; Russell Hanley (wife Lisa) of New Milford, CT; and Kenneth Hanley (wife Ruth) of West Stockbridge, MA.

Grandchildren Jillian Pruiett Locke of Blairsville, PA; Will Hanley of Tallahassee, FL; Kristen Masiero of Fayetteville , NC; LeeAnn Scivolette of Clinton Corners, NY; Cortney Hanley and Katlyn Hanley of Pine Plains, NY; Amanda Hanley Dalzell of West Stockbridge, MA; and Abbey Hanley Dinan of Richmond, MA. Great-Grandchildren Iris McKenna Dinan, Bridget Elizabeth Hanley Dalzell, and Ashlynn Locke. She is also survived by her dear friend Fred Patenaude and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral Notice: Per Edith’s wishes there will be no funeral service but there will be an Ice Cream Social in her memory at a later date. She requested that in lieu of flowers any memorial donations be made in her memory to Riverbrook Residence, PO Box 478, Stockbridge, MA 01262 or through the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
