Obituary for Mrs. Sylvia May Robak Sylvia May (LaFountain) Robak, born on April 8, 1934 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, to the late George and Daisy LaFountain and loving wife to Walter E Robak, passed away at the age 84 on July 21, 2018 at her home in Lanesborough from a long illness. Mrs. Robak attended Pittsfield public schools. She worked in the garment and accessories industry at Berkshire Coat Factory as a furrier and purse maker before leaving in 1969 for the birth of her only child.

She was a full-time homemaker until returning to work in 1985 where she was self-employed in the Healthcare industry as a Personal Care Attendant until her retirement in 2005. Sylvia was married on October 20, 1951 to Walter E Robak, also of Pittsfield. They were married 67 years.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold LaFountain and Edward Lafountain; sister, Norma Lampman. She is survived by her husband Walter; her daughter, Sharon; nephew, Howard LaFountain; and longtime friend, Stephanie Barcher. Sylvia enjoyed writing poems, embroidering, and making yearly pilgrimages to South Yarmouth, Cape Cod, with her daughter.

Funeral Notice: A private memorial service for Sylvia May (LaFountain) Robak will be held at Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North Street, Pittsfield, MA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Sylvia’s name to either Berkshire Humane Society or North Shore Animal League, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, in her memory.
