Obituary for Mr. Thomas P. Quinn Mr. Thomas P. Quinn, 85, of Lanesborough, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Berkshire Place surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 14, 1932 the son of Michael J., from Ireland and Anna E. Poopor Quinn, he attended St Joseph High School. Tom was definitely connected to his father’s Irish roots, he loved his Irish heritage Mr. Quinn was a Master Plumber in Massachusetts and Vermont.
He worked many years as a plumber for Crane Company-Boston, Ma. , Ralph F. Williams Inc., James F Carty Company, Jack R Leahy Plumbing Inc., and McBride Company, before becoming partners in M&W Heating Inc.in 1977. Some of the highlights of Tom’s career included building Waste Water Treatment Plants in Greenfield, Pittsfield and Williamstown, the construction of GE’s building 100, the renovations of the GE’s Plastics headquarters, and the construction of the Merillat Cabinet Manufacturing facility in Whately, Ma.
After his retirement in 1992 Tom remained active in the Plant Engineers Group. Tom’s greatest passion in life was his family. He enjoyed camping with his children from Canada to Florida, summer vacations in Maine, and traveling with his wife Edna to Alaska, Hawaii, Ireland and the Caribbean.
Tom spent much of his retirement enjoying the beaches in Maine with Edna and his dog Casey. Tom loved to host the 4th of July holiday with his entire family. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting and school events.
Tom had a lot of energy and enjoyed projects. He built and remodeled several homes for his family including his home in Lanesborough, a summer residence in Wells, Maine and a cottage in Vermont. Tom was a former parishioner of St. Charles Parish in Pittsfield, American Martyrs in Lanesborough and St. Mary’s Parish in Cheshire.
Mr. Quinn leaves his wife, the former Edna C. Bechtel, whom he married on October 15, 1955 at St. Charles Church in Pittsfield. He is also survived by his children, Colleen Snyder (Lawrence), Erin Rudy (Robert), Kellie Keplinger (Jacob) and Edward Quinn (Karen), his grandchildren Jennifer Brown (Josh), Heather O’Connor (Matthew), Kaitlyn Brayley (Kevin), Brendan Stitt, Marissa Quinn, Ashlee Quinn, Amanda LeBarron, Jacob Keplinger, Jackson Keplinger, his great grandchildren Aiden Conner, Reilley O’Connor, Maeve O’Connor. Mr. Quinn was predeceased by his great granddaughter Vivienne Brown.
Tom was also predeceased by his siblings, Mae Gaffney, Father Joseph Quinn, William Quinn and Elaine Tagliente. Tom’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Berkshire Place for the wonderful care he received during his time there. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mr. Thomas P. Quinn will be on Saturday, April 14, 2018 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at St. Mary the Assumption Church, Cheshire, celebrated by the Rev.
Matthew Guidi, pastor. Calling hours at the church will precede the service from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be later in the spring at Mountain View Cemetery in Lanesborough. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, in his memory.
