Perry Kirklen Ewing, 57, of Big Spring joined his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 29, 2018. Perry was born October 12, 1960, to Mary Helen and Perry Joe Kirklen of Odessa, Texas. He married Nancy Bell and helped raise a step-son.

He graduated from Odessa High School in 1979. Later, he pursued studies at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, where he earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration. After graduation, he worked with his father in the family businesses.

Later,… Read More » he worked at Odessa Medical Center, Endycott Co., and Claydesta Communications. He was a personable, hardworking employee. Perry enjoyed working with others.

His warm, infectious smile was expressed to everyone he encountered, for he never knew a stranger. He loved helping friends and family despite his lengthy personal illness. He will be remembered for his bravery, perseverance, and thoughtfulness.

Perry was a member of West Park Baptist Church where he participated in team sports, fund-raising, and church celebrations. Perry had five siblings. He is survived by Mark Kirklen of Big Spring, Patsy Stokes of Big Spring, Jane Robbins of North Carolina, Linda Brunson of Austin, and Wanda Kirklen of Abilene.

Perry was very proud of his niece, Christine Brunson and nephews, Brian Stokes and William Kirklen. Perry was preceded in death by one sister: Mary Jo Kirklen in May 1986, his mother: Mary Helen Kirklen in November 1999, and his father: Perry Joe Kirklen in November 2016. Our family would like to express our gratitude to Denise Carillo, the director of the Big Spring Skilled Nursing Center, and the nursing and the medication staff for their loving care of our brother.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, May 11, 2018, at Canterbury (South), 1700 S. Lancaster. Arrangements are under the direction of Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Pay your respects online at www.
