Obituary for Peter Carson Eayre Peter Carson Eayre was born in Abington, Pennsylvania on May 26, 1934 to Edith and Albert Eayre. He died May 17, 2018 surrounded and supported by his family. He was a son, brother, husband, father, Pop-pop and in his later years, a beloved Pop-pop-pop.

He loved his family and will be deeply missed. Pete graduated from Abington High School, Drexel University and received his Masters in Electrical Engineering form the University of Cincinnati. Not one to love corporate rules and the accompanying neck ties, he embarked on a more independent career path.

His successful engineering career provided a multitude of memorable places to raise his family, work hard and enjoy an active and energetic life. He was a man on whom others could rely. Family, friends and sometimes the stranger unaware benefited from his helping hand, electrical engineering knowledge, or wise acre remark.

He was a good man who still means everything to his children, grands and great grands. While working in China at a CelRiver project, he was aptly nicknamed the Old Rock. He was tall and sturdy enough for grandchildren to climb all over and again will be deeply missed.

He was predeceased by his high school sweetheart, Margery Griffith Eayre. Those left behind, while bereft, are set to soldier on following his example of standing up, speaking one’s mind, and always thinking a problem through. We learned unimportant things can be solved by time or money.

Important things cannot. Never leave a family member behind, bit if you do by accident, go back to get them. Know how to drive a stick shift car, change your oil, clean the filters and always check your tires to be prepared for the roads of life.

In short, although he prepared his family well to be capable, educated and do something meaningful in this world, we are reluctant and heartbroken to do these things in a world without our beloved Old Rock. Survivors include his widow Mignon Eayre, his children Cynthia Earye, Laura and Philip Wright, Melinda and Herbert Hartsook and grandchildren Michael and Janine Wright, Theodore Hartsook, Andrew and Lauren Wright and great granddaughters Emma and Sophia Wright. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Pilgrim’s Inn.
