Rev. Bobby “Bob” J. Cable, age 80, entered into eternal rest Sunday, May 27, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A native of McDowell County, Bob was born on April 23, 1938 to the late Floyd and Cora Lee Cable.

Rev. Bob was a retired minister who loved the lord, and pastored many churches, which include Victory FWB, Liberty FWB, Mt. Calvary FWB, and Beaverdam FWB during his 25 years of ministry.

Bob had a passion for wood working, and loved to fish, especially taking trips to Fontana Lake with his beloved wife Helen. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who always kept his family in line. Bob will be remembered as being a true servant, always being there for the families and the community when needed.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Helen L. Cable of the home; four children, Dale Cable and wife Debbie of Marion, Doug Cable and wife Ann of Marion, Tim Cable and wife Donna of Marion, and Rebecca Tatum and husband Jim of Marion; two brothers, Larence Cable, and Jarvis Cable and wife Helen; two sisters, Frances Shuford and husband Troy, and Doris McMahan and husband Daniel; a sister-in-law, Novella Cable; ten grandchildren, Scott Cable, Sarah Bourdet, Hannah Blankenship, Brooke Cable, Dawn Buchanan, David Cable, Jonathan Cable, Ryan Price, Kristin Cable, and Rachel Creegan; and sixteen great grandchildren. A service will be held at Mt. Calvary FWB on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.

Rick Wood, Rev Jerry McClain, and Rev Ray Stockton officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow the service in McDowell Memorial Park.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the special loving care given to Bob by all the staff with Hospice of McDowell County during Bob’s illness. Westmoreland Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
