Richard Henry “Butch” Ashby, 87, of Hammon, Oklahoma was born on August 16, 1930 in Sebree, Kentucky to Albert Henry and Ina Beulah (Fleming) Ashby. He went to meet his heavenly Father on July 26, 2018 at Great Plain Regional Medical Center in Elk City, Oklahoma surrounded by his family and friends. R.H. was a veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army.

R.H. was an avid University of Oklahoma football fan, enjoyed working with his cattle, watching his grandkids play the sports they were involved in, and reading. He loved his special cat, “Scooter”.

R.H. was an active member of Community Fellowship Church in Hammon, Oklahoma and he loved his church family. Cherishing his memory is Myrna Campbell of Hammon, Oklahoma, five daughters, Beth Spence and her husband, Wes of Dallas, Texas, Sue Vermillion and her husband, Bill of Florence, Alabama, Deranda Woods of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Holly Chambers of Keller, Texas, Emily Ogle and her husband, Nick of Springdale, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren, Shan Finley, Richard Spence, Shawn Finley, Joe Don Finley, Heath Spence, Shelynda Harmon, Mikaela Perez, Jaden Perez, Canaan Perez, Tenney Ogle, Sullivan Ogle, Eden Ogle; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Quinn; parents, Albert and Ina Beulah; two brothers, LaRue Ashby, O’Neal Ashby and one sister, Georgia Lou Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Community Fellowship Church in Hammon, Oklahoma. Interment will be at Red Hill Cemetery in Hammon, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
