Obituary for Richard “Dick” Seymour Richard “Dick” Seymour passed away surrounded by family on June 16th at St. James Hospital. He was 84 years young, born on February 21st, 1934 in Butte, Montana. He attended St. Pat’s grade school graduating in 1949 and graduated from Boy’s Central in 1953.

In 1953 and 1954 he attended telegraphy school in Salt Lake and came home to work for Burlington Northern Railroad. He continued his career with various other jobs before spending 26 years working for Butte-Silver Bow Parks Department, and he took special pride in caring for Stodden Park. He was briefly married to Priscilla Chelini and in 1963 they had their only son, Kevin.

In 1990 he accomplished his dream when he and his son purchased a large parcel of land in German Gulch and then retired in 1991 to raise horses and cattle in the country. His passions in life include hunting, fishing camping, raising livestock and really loved caring for his two grandchildren, Heather and Hunter. His favorite past time at home was playing cribbage, watching cattle and watching sports.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Lee Carl in 1986, his father, James Seymour in 1990 and his mother, Alpha Seymour in 1999. He is survived by his son, Kevin Seymour and daughter-in-law, Debra and their two children, Heather and Hunter. He also has many nieces, nephews and cousins in Butte and Missoula.

Over the years he had two very special companions in his chocolate labs, Tilly and Pearl. For a small man he had a very full and vibrant personality and enjoyed living his life his own special way. He was also a very generous man and regularly, over his life, gave considerable charitable donations, especially to the Butte Food Bank, St. Jude’s Research Hospital and the Shrine Hospital for Children.

Because of his love for Stodden Park we ask that any donations in his memory be made to either Stodden Park Pool or to one of the previously mentioned charities. Per his wishes, there will be no services. He will be greatly missed by many.
