Obituary for Thomas Donell McGarry Jr Mr. Thomas Donell McGarry Jr. passed away Thursday afternoon in St. James Healthcare. He was born in Butte Sunday, November 29, 1942 to Thomas Donell and Eleanor (Layton) McGarry.

He attended local schools and graduated from Butte High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1961 until 1965 and on March 19, 1967 he and Rita Steinborn were united in Marriage here in Butte. Tom worked as an electrician for many years, belonged to the IBEW and the American Legion, was a founding member of the Pioneer Street Rods, and also belonged to the NRA.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Dennis McGarry who passed away in 1976. Survivors include his wife, Rita McGarry of Butte, daughters and sons-in-law: Christine and Del Snyder of Butte, Leigh Ann and David Farman of Newman Lake, WA, Traci McGarry of Butte, Dee Dee and Kyle Fowler of Monroe, GA, 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and his sister and brother-in-law, Teri and David Crowder of Stevensville. Tom’s remains have been gifted to the University of Montana, Anatomical Research Program.
