RICHARD ANTHONY VILLALOBOS, MD was born in Los Angeles County, California on June 23, 1955, and died June 26, 2018, in Salinas, California. He is survived by his wife, Elsa Rosas Villalobos; sons, Miles Harrison (Erin Lettire) and Alex Villalobos; daughter, Lisa Villalobos; brother, Raymond Villalobos, MD (Sonia Ortiz-Miranda); sisters, Naomi Villalobos, Elizabeth Villalobos, and Shari Fessel (Jim); step-brother, Brent Jarrett; step-sister Julie Pompei (Ken); nieces and nephews; and his Aunt, Patricia Myers, and cousins, Lilian Myers and Lisa Connell. His parents, Ruth and Rick Villalobos, step-mother Joan Villalobos, brothers, Jon Tucker and Gabriel Villalobos, and step-brother, Dennis Jarrett preceded him in death.

A great lover of the outdoors, Rich enjoyed swimming, backpacking, day hikes to Point Lobos, bicycling, fishing, kayaking, sailing, took flying lessons, traveling the world, gardening, or working on his property in the hills above Salinas. Dogs loved Rich, as he loved them, and a series of canines lived long, joyous lives in his company. At the time of his death, Rich was a highly regarded diagnostic and interventional radiologist and a managing partner at Salinas Valley Radiology, working at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital and Natividad Medical Center, where he took great pride in his professional achievements and enjoyed the challenges of radiology and of improving data systems and management in the workplace.

A Celebration of Life for Rich will be announced at a later date. Contributions in memory of Richard Villalobos are preferred to the California State Parks Foundation (CalParks.org).
