Robert Glenn Overton, age 88, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully with his loving wife of 67 years in their home on June 10, 2018. He was born on November 22, 1929 to the late Amos and Bertha Overton. Bob was a graduate of Young High, Class of 1947.

He had many accomplishments, including being a part of the Electrical Workers Union and a United States Army member from 1951-1957. He retired from his job at The United States Post Office in 1988. He was an avid member and Deacon at Meridian Baptist… Read More » Church.

Bob loved and adored four things the most: God, His Church, Family, and Golf. He never missed a chance to gather with friends and family, whether it be at his Hardees Morning Club or at his home where love was felt throughout. He never met a stranger, which is why he is adored and will be missed by so many.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill and Jim Overton. Bob will be sorely missed by his loving son, Jerry Stephan Overton; adoring daughter and son-in-law, Olivia and Todd Nickens of Kingsport; grandsons, Blake Overton (Hannah), Taylor Overton, Michael and Joshua Nickens; beloved great granddaughter, Maddox Ruth Overton; sisters, Betty Underwood, Janice Hopper (Jack), and Carolyn Alise; sisters-in-law, Sarah Overton and Jewel Overton; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Grandchildren will be serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends for Bob and Barbara at Meridian Baptist Church on Chapman Highway, Thursday, June 14 from 4:30-6:30 PM with funeral services to follow at 7 PM with Pastor Dana Fachman officiating.
