Obituary for Mr. Robert (Bob) Warren Bond Robert Warren Bond, age 84, passed away on December 17, 2018. He had many business achievements during his life, but it was his love of his family and friends that motivated all that he did and all that he was. Born November 8, 1934 in Greenwood, MS.

To his family in his youth he was known as “Buddy”, and later in his life to his extended family as Bob, Dad, and Pops. He lived in Itta Bena, MS until age 9 when his family moved to Atlanta, GA. In 1953, Bob graduated from Brown High School in Atlanta then began his business career selling power transmission equipment.

It was also in Atlanta that he met Sandra Davis. They were married in 1957 and Sandra has faithfully stood by his side for the last 61 years. Bob served in the US Navy for two years aboard the USS Intrepid.

In 1967 he founded Bond Transmission and Controls, in Greenville, SC, which he expanded into Bond Textile Machinery in 1971. He employed over 100 people, and sold machinery internationally. The company won the US Commerce Department’s “E Award” for excellence in exports in 1981.

After building the business for many years and putting his four sons through college he sold the business and retired from the Textile Industry. In keeping with his entrepreneurial spirit, he owned and operated several other businesses for the next few years finally retiring for good in 1994. Bob and Sandra moved to their Lake Hartwell house in the same year and remained there until 2011 with a final move to Clemson.

Always a Clemson Tiger fan they enjoyed retired life in the Upstate attending many Tiger sporting events. Bob’s is survived by, his Wife: Sandra D. Bond; Sister: Nell Hammond; Sons: Alan Bond, Scot Bond (Frances), Greg Bond, Mark Bond (Robin); Grandchildren: William Bond, Elizabeth Bond Cochran (Seth), Caroline Bond Gibbons (Peter), Steven Bond, Andrew Bond, Warren Bond, Matthew Bond, Wesley Sarvis (Bianca), Emily Bond, Natalie Bond; Great-grandchildren: Samuel Cochran, Henry Cochran, Jane Cochran, Phoenix Bond, Sebastian Sarvis, Willow Sarvis; Niece: Marsha Dorsey (Bill); Nephew: James Hammond (Diane) and Great-niece: Andrea Fortunato. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 21, 2018, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM, Friday, prior to the service, at Davenport Funeral Home.
