Obituary for Robert “Michael” O’Malley Robert “Michael” O’Malley, 77 of Bonita Springs, FL passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Hope Hospice. Formerly of West Lafayette, IN he had been a Bonita Springs resident since 1987. He was born July 30, 1941 in Danville, IL a son of the late Clement James and Alice Longworth (Finch) O’Malley.

Michael was raised in Ambia, IN and was a corn and soybean farmer, entrepreneur and real estate developer in both Indiana and Illinois. Mr. O’Malley was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters and The Bonita Bay Club. He was an avid golfer who also enjoyed fishing and more recently playing pickleball.

Michael was also a fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Survivors include his beloved wife, Nicole Buckmaster; loving children, Shane (Margaret) O’Malley of Oxford, IN, Shannon (Brian Scott) O’Malley of Lafayette, IN; brothers, Patrick (Maureen) O’Malley of Three Rivers, MI, Thomas (Deb) O’Malley of Lafayette, IN; sister, Cathy McElhaney of Bonita Springs, FL; and cherished grandchildren, CJ Sondgerath, Kyle (Ryan) Puetz, Mitch O’Malley and John O’Malley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jane Rasmussen, May Ann Galloway and Peggy O’Malley.

Memorial visitation will be held Friday, January 18, 2019 from 5-8PM at Hippensteel Funeral Home, 822 N 9th Street, Lafayette, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, Dunnington, IN. Burial will follow.

Memorial contributions may be made in Michael’s name to the American Lung Cancer Society. Local arrangements are being handled by Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Robert “Michael” O’Malley please visit our Sympathy Store.
