Obituary for Roberta “Bobby” Christensen In the early hours of May 12, 2018, Roberta “Bobby” Christensen passed away at the age of 57. Bobby died at home surrounded by family and friends. Bobby put forth a courageous eighteen-month battle against cancer while never giving up hope, continuously stating “everything will be alright” until the very end.
Bobby loved her family and held them close to her heart. Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive, Montana with Deacon Bob Ackerman officiating. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Bobby was born on September 19, 1960 in Havre, Montana to Robert and Tillie (Fettig) Cossette. Bobby was the youngest of four siblings. She joined Debbie, Adair, and Renee and although spoiled, Bobby received a lot of grief from her siblings, but it was always with love.
She was always referred to as “Bird” in her early years because she was so picky. At a young age the family moved to Glendive where she was raised and educated, graduating from Dawson County High School with the class of 1979. Following her graduation from high school, Bobby spent the next few years traveling different parts of the country.
From, Bismarck, North Dakota to Phoenix, Arizona to name a couple. In 1987, Bobby began dating her best friend and the love of her life Tom Christensen. She moved to Michigan to be with him and on August 4, 1990 they were married in Glendive.
In 1991, they moved from Helena to Glendive to help take care of Bobby’s dad and they decided to make Glendive their home. A couple years later their first-born son, Isaac Robert, was born on January 19, 1993 and later their family was complete when their second son, Alec James, was born on January 12, 2000. Bobby spent many years working at Eastmont Human Services Center until its closure.
After it closed, Bobby wanted to stay at home to focus on raising her two boys and she loved every minute of it. She was so very proud of her two boys and raised them with her unconditional love. Once the boys were a little older Bobby decided the time was right to pursue her passion of dog grooming.
Bobby was a fierce animal lover, and loved all animals although dogs always held a special place in her heart. In 2007 she attended the Montana School of Professional Grooming and the ABKA Pet Care Technician Programs of Havre, Montana. She graduated a year later in 2008 and then opened her own business, Dignified Dog.
She owned and operated her business until December of 2016 when she received her cancer diagnosis. Family was everything to Bobby, she loved them more than anything and cherished every moment with them. She made a point to have home cooked meals every night with no television or cell phones allowed so that they could have family time without the distractions.
Bobby’s pride in her home and yard were evident as she loved gardening and decorating the inside and outside alike as they were all living space for her family. Bobby’s kind heart will be missed by everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Tillie.
Bobby is survived by her husband and best friend, Tom Christensen of Glendive; her two sons, Isaac of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Alec of Glendive; sister, Debbie (Roger) Rasmussen of Wasilla, Alaska and their children: Ryan, Reid, and Christina and her son Bentley; sister, Adair (Don) Morrison of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and their children: Devon and Brock and his son Fox; sister, Renee (Dwight) Odenbach of Maricopa, Arizona and their children: Josh and Lacey and her daughter Autumn; and her special shitzu’s, Luna and Mandy.
