Obituary for Roger Heinen Roger Wayne Heinen of Central City, NE passed away peacefully with his children by his side at Bryan Memorial Hospital on May 23, 2018 in Lincoln, NE at the age of 74. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 1st at the Solt-Wagner Community Room in Central City, NE from 11 to 2 pm. His family invites the many friends and family members Roger leaves behind to stop by for food and fellowship.

Roger was born on July 9, 1943 in Aurora, NE, the first born child of Charles and Edith (Hefty) Heinen. He joined the Navy in 1961 and studied there, completing his GED and working as an aircraft mechanic. He met Sandra Lewton while on leave and they were married upon his honorable discharge in 1964.

Roger worked various mechanic jobs in the Grand Island area. Upon the family’s move to Central City, He worked at Larson Chevrolet until he eventually started his own business, “Roger’s Auto Service”. He was an extremely talented technician who enjoyed mentoring others interested in the craft.

His hobbies included car racing, building hotrods (including his beloved, “Crystal Blue Persuasion”), fishing, listening to his oldies music and doting on the numerous pets who kept him company. He was a witty, kind-hearted man who never met a stranger. His family was his pride and joy.

Roger is survived by Sandra and their four children; Rodney of Central City, NE, Ross and wife, Michelle (Malcolm) of Cheyenne, WY, Trisha and husband David Groth of Lincoln, NE and Tera and husband Brian Leinen of Omaha, NE. He leaves behind his sisters, Sharon (James) Brumbaugh of Afton, Oklahoma, Delores (Roy) Green of Aurora, NE and his brothers, Ronald of Lincoln, NE and Robert (Carol) of Grand Island, NE. He is sadly missed and fondly remembered by his eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and by many special nieces and nephews.
