RONALD L. PICKETT Ronald “Ron” Pickett, 71, of Taylor, Missouri, died on Tuesday, October 16th at his home, in the woods that he loved. Born August 4, 1947, in Quincy, Ron was a son of Leroy and Letha Thrasher Pickett. He married Donna Budde on April 22, 1998 at the New London, Missouri Courthouse.

She survives. Ron was a 1965 graduate of Quincy Senior High School in Quincy, Illinois. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966-1970, and served part of that time in Korea.

He worked at Gardner Denver, and later was employed by Moorman Manufacturing. He retired from ADM in 2007, after more than thirty years of service. Ron was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family, and captured many beautiful animal and nature shots through his love of photography.

He was a member of Bodley Masonic Lodge No. 1, Elks Lodge No. 100, and the Boots Dickson American Legion Post 174 in Palmyra, Missouri.

Ron was grateful to be on the Great River Honor Flight with his twin brother, Don, on May 7, 2017. Survivors in addition to his wife, Donna, are a son, Thomas (Michele) Pickett; a son-in-law, Rodney Whaley; a daughter, Deena (Michael) Wolfe; a son, David (Cara) Budde; eight grandchildren, Alex Pickett, Hannah Pickett, Thomas Pickett Jr., Nicholas Wolfe, Matthew Wolfe, Robert Wolfe, Austin Brown and Rylan Wright; one great-grandson, Ollie Pickett; his twin brother Donald (Kay) Pickett and sister Karen Elsie; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ronald was proceeded in death by one daughter, Lori Whaley, who passed on April 10, 2015.

Funeral services will be held Saturday evening at 6:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Military Honors will be conducted by the Boots Dickson American Legion Post 174 and the Scott Air Force Base Honor Guard following the funeral service. Visitation will be Saturday afternoon from 3:00 to 6:00 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Donna Pickett to establish an educational fund for their great grandchild or to the Great River Honor Flight.
